Ship Electron: desktop client template
A clean Electron starting point distilled from the Memwork desktop app: main-process skeleton, a space-list home and a header + two-pane layout, browser-redirect sign-in, auto-update, signing and notarization, themes and zh/en — with no product-specific business logic to rip out.
Private repository: okayok-ai/ship-electron
App shell
- Main / preload / renderer split with a narrow preload bridge
- Space list home, header + left/right panes
- Back / forward and sidebar navigation
- Single-instance window that re-focuses on deep links
Account
- Sign-in in the system browser, back via your app protocol
- One-time code exchanged for a token, stored in the OS keychain
- Account settings page
- Built-in privacy policy and terms pages
Updates & release
- Push a desktop-v* tag to build, sign and notarize in CI
- Installers + update manifests published to a public releases repo
- Checks every 30 minutes, user-confirmed download, install on quit
- zh/en release notes synced to the website changelog
Customization
- Product name, protocol and domain in one config file
- One command renames everything for a new product
- Light / dark / system theme
- Chinese and English UI and menus
How auto-update works
Tag desktop-v1.2.0 (matching package.json). CI signs and notarizes the build, uploads installers and the update manifest to your public releases repo as a draft, verifies it, then publishes. Clients poll every 30 minutes, prompt the user, download on consent and install on quit. The website and the desktop app live in separate repos with separate version lines (v* vs desktop-v*), linked through the changelog.
